Earliest meeting: Wednesday 18th September 1833
Final meeting: Thursday 2nd April 1840
Fingal is one of 3 local authority areas of Dublin, covering an area that takes in 88 kilometres of beautiful coastline. One of the earliest meetings to take place in Fingal was held on Wednesday 18th September 1833 when a series of Sweepstakes were spread out over two days. The Sporting Magazine of 1840 later reported that a race meeting was arranged by the Fingal Hunt Committee and took place on Thursday 2nd April 1840. The main race was sponsored by Mr W Shaw, who presented a Whip to Mr T Baker, the owner of Wagtail. However, the victory was anything but easy, for it was necessary to run four heats before Wagtail achieved the required two wins.
